Introduction to Appendices and Companions

The appendices extend the Reference Manual through two archives.

The Internal Archive (Diegetic Lore)
Documents written from within the universe, authored by the scholars, explorers, synthminds, and poets who dwell in the Empire: analyses of biology and physics, clinical references, meditations on culture. They describe the civilization as its citizens experience it. The archive includes the physical foundations beneath Imperial communication and interstellar translation, including the relational account of time, commit order, and persistent history.

It also includes technical civic references whose machinery would interrupt the main chapters, including the accounting standards, monetary circuit, and interplanetary settlement behind the energy credit.

The External Archive (Meta-Commentary)
Documents about the project itself: the setting's genre inspirations, its relationship to established science fiction, and the tools and philosophies behind the world-building.
